Why Wenger is the best manager in the Premiership
Why Wenger is better than every manager in the premiership by Stephen
“what an Outlandish statement!?!”
Remember I said Premiership not Europe nor the world
I have 3 reasons for this
Firstly
Most of you would remember the whole David Dein saga. Most of you would remember that this happened in 2005 and all of you remember this was the last year we won a trophy.
Now before we all point the blame on the trophy drought at player power or Arsenal being a selling or feeder club, lets take a step back and evaluate the last 7 years. 3 competition Finals including the Champions League, top four finish without fail every year and always get past the group stages of the Champions league year in year out. I don’t think we appreciate how good this is. I don’t know about you but I prefer consistency over erratic performances and unreliability, and don’t go shouting to me Chelsea!!, Look where Liverpool are. Won the competition in 2005 , EPL runners up in 2009 ..where are they now? Take that Carling cup and shove it where the sun don’t shine. Its funny I said Liverpool because they’ve lost very instrumental players to Europe’s ‘giants’ in quick succession. Xabi Alonso, Torres and Mascherano. Question I ask is that why despite these players moving there was not as much media hysteria about it, other that the price tag of Torres they sort of just.. happened, however RVP, Fabregas, Nasri and co, the stories kept on going all summer long and didn’t seem to go away
yet I digress..
We all know the who’s in the infamous Darren Dein’s little black book and the coincidence that all these players have left arsenal, surprisingly all from humble beginnings with transfer fees averaging 1 million to exits with averaging 25 million, this alone can be viewed as shrewd and fantastic business on its own but again lets go deeper. We might not all realise it but we all assumed Wenger was oblivious to the fact that these “players” had the same agent with the same chilling link to the club up until the opening of the transfer window year in year out. He knew perfectly well, so what did he do? got the best out of them and now look who’s laughing as one of the most stable sports franchises on the planet
“nobody cares about financial stabilty, we want trophies!”
If youre thinking this, shame on you
I need not repeat the stats over our consistency over the past 7 years.
What I’m trying to get at is, is that Wenger has the unique quality we meer mortals call extended foresight. Pundits are left scratching they’re heads at why we let these said players leave and so easily. yet again do not run and say “Wenger wanted to keep them at all costs!!” in reply I say, don’t be a fucking idiot and believe the shit caught offside have to offer, its called business. What Wenger has achieved slowly but surely is to essentially mug off rid arsenal of the poisonous Dein relationship and also pocketing hundreds of millions. Remember we have a stadium to pay off. No financial meltdown for us Man U eat your eat you heart out. If managing to remain as Europes big boys without the big cash isn’t genius I don’t know what is..
Secondly
Over the years have you noticed the trend of players of a certain nationality incoming and their success of their national team?
France in the early 00s we have transfers of Anelka , Henry, Pires what did France win around that time? The world cup in 2002 and the euros in 2000.
Spain in the recent history treble winners Who have we only just aquired? CAZORLA? This makes the dream of players like Navas and Llorente a feasible acquisitions as we have the the right person to persuade, why do you think Giroud came to Arsenal and M’vila coming to Arsenal? Kosielny’s advice…
And now with the growing strength of the Germans we are starting to have pretty strong German contingent of the squad with Eisfeld, Merty and Poldi and with the arrival of Sahin this could be great.
Now the point of this is the extended foresight I was talking about, this shows that when times of acquiring a player go sour he has a man on the inside to be the little voice at the back of the transferred players mind, Arteta and Cazorla anyone?
This kills 2 bird with one stone, as not only does this make the transfer a shedload easier, players feel more at home with those they can speak they’re own language with …
Think of Zhirkov I blame the lack of performance of Russian players in the EPL to be that they’re all on they’re own at their clubs:
Pavleyuchenco
Povegregnyac
and yes even Arshavin
amazing players but all failed to make grade at EPL level
I reckon if we got Dzagoev, Arshavin would have shown he’s more than just a 15 million 1 trick pony
I lied there is no third reason
Wenger is the best and he knows what hes doing, hes not perfect or always spot on with transfers I leave the naming for you ,but trust in him
COYG!!!!!!

Totally agree.. As a manager should think all aspect.
Arsenal will life not just for a season.. But until my son and my next generation.
In Wenger I trusted and always trust.

Arsenal and Arsenge Wenger enemies at work!!!! Why are people pinching players from Arsenal if they are of non special class? When Arsenal in the final and loss, because it was not their day or didn’t spend. Not sure what has spending money to do with losing in the final!!!! I like Arsenal or Wenger model, perpetuity.

Well, sounds like you are in support of how the club is being run by the management. Does this article answer the question of why we sell our best players every year, why we dont have to win trophys for the past 7 yrs?Excuse me, Why do we always compare ourselves with liverpool that is already failing? Why not chelsea, man u,man city, barca? Chelsea didn’t win the champions league bcos they bought too many players, but bcos they successfully kept all their key players together over the years. They have always embarked on such a long term project. Take a look at barca,it’s very rare b4 you hear club is interested in messi, xavi, iniesta.Bcos they(clubs) already know barca will not let them go for any price.Fans,we shouldn’t be comparing ourselves with failures, cos’ that makes us truly less ambitious,we should be aiming at competing with clubs that are winning at least a trophy every year.A passionate club will always be registering their influence in their respective leagues by winning at least 1 trophy every year. E.G manu, chelsea, barca, madrid etc. Man u didnt win a single trophy last season, but you can see that ferguson is already determined by making a move to reclaim his position, but the best my club could do is to sell his strongest weapon to his enemy. Arsenal should wake up and let’s stop fooling ourselves. Always in love with darlin arsenal !

Nice show of ignorance.
A coach is the guy who trains people on the ground. He’s not responsible for transfers, he doesn’t talk to the board, he’s just a functionary to the club.
Great coaches train people who win trophies.
If Wenger’s only goal was money, he would never ask for transfers of people like Arteta, Podolski or Cazorla, people who actually can make a team strong enough for a title challenge. But he did. Want to explain why?

He sold our best two players from last season. That is not strengthening a team for a title challenge.
Arteta is a class act but we sold Fabregas and Nasri.
Benayoun was a last minute loan deal and he is back at Chelsea.
Why can’t you accept that our signings are always to compensate loosing someone else.
This is not building a team for success, it’s a 7 year formular for keeping the majority of fans quiet and it works.
you can’t fool all the people all the time.

I’m sorry, but this article is just absolutely stupid.
I think that AW is the best coach in the world, but i have more reasonable and sensible reasons, not a bunch of rubbish.
first, France did not win 2002 world cup, they won 1998.
secondly, we are not following national teams thinking that France won 1998 so we buy all those french players. the reason these players were bought is because they were good.
if your theory is correct then we should have had a lot of Spanish players since 2008 when they won the Euros.
furthermore, AW is the best because he has an eye for players, he can tell when a player will succeed, also he can buy players on the cheap will keeping Arsenal profitable, which is hard in today’s football.
And lets not forget Arsenal plays the best brand of football in the league.
when you compare AW to the Fergie or even the Special one, AW works with players makes them into stars while playing the best brand of football and helping Arsenal to pay off their debt. whereas Fergie and Marinho both just buy the best players, and their football brand is no where need that of AW, their clubs are in debt, the only difference is they win.
(lets not forget Guardiola and Marinho have the best squads in the world)
so in my opinion this managerometre is rubbish, but AW is the best in the world.

Lets not forget that selling players and making money is not wenger’s fault.
there is a lot more people at this club, what about the board ?
Wenger works with what he has, and he is doing a very good job, we need better players to win.
and unless money grows on trees, we will have to wait till the club can finance such deals.
I am an arsenal fan, and i want to win everything. but I’m supporting the club because of the football brand they play and thats thanks to wenger

@ adizza its not that arsenal wanted to sell those players e.g rvp, nasri, adebayor e.t.c. They refuse to sign and wanted out because they believe they should earn times(x3) of what they earned at arsenal. Dont blame wenger because the star players are greedy.

Department of Corrections @ author:
a) France won WC ’98, not ’02. They failed miserably at WC ’02.
b) And Netherlands? We had a Dutch contingent first before we had the French contingent.
c) The winning Spanish team included one Cesc Fabregas, native to Barcelona, playing for Arsenal.
d) A number of the English Russians lived in London – are you sure they really felt so alone and isolated? Also, Dzagoev didn’t emerge as a transfer target until last Euros.
e) Eisfeld is one for the future, the equivalent (rough) of Anelka, not the same level as Poldi or Mert.
What makes Wenger successful is:
1) his ability to make his players do better than they actually can (it’s called synergy);
2) his skills as a manager (economic – caring about the financial side of the operation: I don’t think DiMatteo is good at this…);
3) his ability to create a friendly atmosphere at his clubs (all of his players, from Weah to Giroud, stress how good they falt or feel working for Wenger);
4) his skills at fashioning strategies (you won’t find Wenger buying 4 different playmakers just for the heck of it);
5) his ability to transform a defeat into a success – and I’m talking facts, not PR.
In fact, if there’s one thing that hurts me about Wenger, it’s the PR sh*t. It hurts me to hear the manager of my favourite club repeat year in, year out, how he wants to keep his best players, how he aims high, etc., etc., only to find the club sell some of the most important players. But I’m old enough to recognize this as a part of the Arsenal strategy. The market is spoiled by oil money, and robber sheikhs will pay a lot to see your best players in their teams. All you can do is TRY to keep them, but if you can’t – you better bring back the money. Sadly, most of the sheikhs are involved in the EPL, so we mostly sell within our own league. But is that Wenger’s fault? He’s just keeping us up to the game: if he’s going to sell to a rival, it’s because the pr*cks pay better – so he’ll get more transfer money and strengthen in time. And this involves a lot of PR b.s.

I agree Wenger is the best manager in the prem, for sure.
SAF is the only other manager who comes close, then Moyes. AW is better than SAF cos Wenger did what he has done on such a meager petty cash tin that it’s unbelievable we stayed st or near the top.
Ppl talk bout trophies compared with SAF wins, but he and UTD play on a different field to us. He has broken, smashed and broken transfer records left right n centre, the pgmol love him, he has other managers/clubs and media in his back pocket. This makes it easier for him to compete but harder for us to. We can’t offer such salaries to players like rvp like they can.
So based on this if SAF had to get his club to move stadiums, only play with YOUTH and have a much smaller transfer kitty, would he still get his team playing the most attractive football in England? Take away all/ any influence he has over refs, managers and other powers that be, I would safely say that AW would keep us there abouts and fergie wouldn’t!
U cam take that to the bank, all u negative nancies!!!

No doubt Wenger is best.
But what he is dong in Arsenal. Why he is more concentrating on business than football.
We are not asking him to spend big money in market. We are asking him not to concentrate only on profit. Just try for one trophy at least. That he is not doing.
Can we say he is a good football manger, i have doubt. We can say he is the best manager.

I dont know if arsenal fans understand the team they support! Arsenal dont sell players because they want to but because the players want to leave!I’ld rather have committed players than disgrantled ones… When u say wenger just wants to make money 4 d BOD and not win trophies, definitely u dont know what u are saying, because even wenger and the BOD knows that arsenal as a brand can only become better by winning trophies and they’ve stated this over the years! Lastly,we all call for 5-6 player additions to the team but we are not patient to let them gel as a team. Even man city and real madrid had to wait 2 seasons to reap what they sown! So if u r not ready to support the team… Off u go!

“Best” means coming first. It certainly doesn’t mean “4th is like trophy”.
If you worship Lord Wenger, there are a lot of ways to express your feelings but please don’t treat us like fools.
Hot debate. What do you think?

Wenger only concentrates on the business side, when players he believed in turned their back and deserted him/us. So when all else fails and said player wants out, why keep him? In this case sell the player and make a profit. Ppl then say why doesn’t he spend this ‘profit’? Buying a player costs x amount of money which we can afford, but it’s the wages that stump us.
Someone above said Chelsea won the CL final because they kept their star players, which is true to a point (they also didn’t play football) but Drogba stayed at Chelsea only cos he was being paid a monster salary. If Drogba was shit then Chelsea would not be able to get rid of him and end up like city, ie. Big players earning bucket loads, but can’t sell on, so they couldn’t get rvp.
This is what ruins a club, if oil men left, the club would still have to pay these salaries, that’s the time when failure, administration and maybe extinction.
This is one reason why AW is smart and just cos he is an economist doesn’t mean he is purely bout business. Don’t read ‘caught offside’ or ‘le grove’ etc to get ur info, they will lie and poison your ideals and love for our great club and manager.
Have faith they are all flashes in the pan these oil men, we are not, we will still be in and around the top In 10, 20 years time AND we wil be telling our grand kids how the greatest manager the football world had ever seen, he lived, loved and breathed Arsenal!

Jim: Best means coming first? I think winning means coming first, but hey. Jim who do you think the EPL best manager is? Fergie? RDM? Martinez? Mancini? AVB?
According to your logic, Mancini is the best, right? Cos he won?
Who do u think is the best?
Wenger could get all 11 commenters on this site and make us play great football and keep us happy. Fergie with same personnel couldn’t get us playing do good. All he will do is have a word to his ‘friends’ and we would lose.
Now the purse strings can be relaxed a bit, we are starting to see the Wenger we know and love (some of us anyway) and I personally can’t wait till the team gels and start playing our beat again.
Football is about entertainment not winning, otherwise their would be no fans of other clubs. 128 years old and 13 titles, 10 FA Cups is not achieved by spending willy nilly….
What goes around, comes around

when you compare arsenal with big clubs, pls try to leave ”man u” out of it, we know how many favors they recieve 4rm refs, arsenal style of play means they ‘ll always be felled most especially in d pen box, at least messi alone 4 barca scored 10 goals 4rm pen sport last season bcos of d same style play, my support of arsenal is not bcos of trophies, its bcos of their style of play and unfortunately d style is not appreciated in england, every goal arsenal scorees is always a spectacle, and i dont think i can like any other style of play lolz.

This is where we are as a club.
Too many people with business reasons and excuses for our failure on the pitch.
The Emirates was supposed to allow us to compete with the best in Europe.I thought that meant on the pitch
It’s now being described as some kind of financial burden.
When the author speaks of the new signings in a positive way he must remember that if they have one good season, They will be sold for a profit.
There is also one question the supporters of this business plan refuse to answer, and that is “When will it end?”
The answer is, it wont. this board will never get off this gravy train.
I was a huge fan of wenger the football coach/manager.He was the best.
This policy will only end with the departure of the board, the manager, or both.
This great managers legacy has been sacrificed for money.

This is quite funny:
1. France didn’t win WC’02
2. Mert is hardly good enough to play for this german team
3. Comparing yourself to liverpool is just saying “@least we aint as bad”
4. Wenger keep his players happy? That’s d joke of the year. List of disgruntled arsenal players; anelka, adebayor, rvp, denilson, bendtner, walcott, fabregas, song, nasri, gallas, vela, fabianski, merida, flamini, ashley cole, pires etc +thousands of teenagers like JET, ozyakup, bartley etc. Hell, even sczesny threatened to quit the club as he was behind keepers he was better than, &despite fan outcry, Le senile stuck with the calamituos duo of fabianski &mannone till injury forced his hand. Note that many of these players got even more chances than they probably wud have gotten even at smaller clubs like westham. Meanwhile berbatov finishes a season as top scorer, gets benched almost throughout the next season, yet hardly complains, understands the manager is the boss &accepts his decision. What does that tell you? Wenger’s a poor man manager, his players don’t buy into his project and when they get big enough, they will all, to the last one rebel against it. There are many more rvp’s, fabs, henrys, songs in the pipeline

Despite the sale of Nasri, Fabregas and others before them, we still finished third last season. And no matter how good RVP was last season, you still have to consider the fact that we were hardly a success in terms of winning things with him.
Signing Santi Cazorla, Podolski and Giroud should easily make up for the departure of RVP and Song this summer. The new recruits are all hungry to impress and will be ample cover. I don’t think selling RVP has significantly weakened our team or chances of success this season.
Yes, we don’t spend what City, United and Chelsea do, and yes, our players make us a fortune when we sell them on, but we’re doing what we’re doing within our means which is pretty respectable and we’re not an average team like Liverpool are at the moment. In fact, we’re still a Champions League regular and there’s every chance we’ll have more success now the egos have left.
