Vinay: Arsenal fans need to get some belief!

Are Arsenal actually misfiring? by Vinay

Hi All,

Two games into the season and the knives are out. Arsenal cannot score, Podolski and Giroud are crap and we can never replace that “little kid” (cant say his name again in my life), Gervinho is going the Arshavin way and our midfield has no clue but for Cazorla. I mean seriously so in 2 games we have been judged and decided upon?

The so called pundits and critics who are writing our obituary needs to understand its been just two games and that included going to a sick place and getting a draw. We havent been able to score is a cause of concern but is it because of lack of effort or havent we been able to create? The answer is no!

If you were to check the stats, Santi himself created close to seven chances against Sunderland and yesterday we dominated a team which would trouble any of the teams in the league at the Brittannia. So weren’t a lot here saying it was our defence which needs to be shored up?? Imagine when our best defender of last season comes back, Laurent Koscienly, he wont get an automatic start, such have been the displays of the back 4.

Sometimes we need to look at the team with a perspective, losing people who have been an integral part of the set up cannot be compensated immediately by adding new personnel. The three signings if done by any other team or if done in normal circumstances would have been termed fantastic but our situation has been different. Players suddenly seem to be hearing their “inner voice” or acting “funny” suddenly and decide to leave.

What wrong did any of the three new players do so far? Giroud was perfect as a lone striker yesterday, he held up play, ran the channels and chased every ball and came to help the defense, he didn’t score, well neither did a lot of others! Podolski again showed the German grit and determination by never ever giving up, and Cazorla’s class has been there for all to see. In 2 games how many new players have settled so well in any other team? Hazard has been the sole exception and even the 24 million kid scored a goal and then has done nothing else, so everyone takes time to settle down. You can very well see the team looks so much more compact now. wait for the first win, it could just be a continuous one.

The biggest disappointment is a majority of Arsenal fans. We are so eager to write ourselves off. We are not good enough, we lack in so many areas, players we have aren’t committed etc. Why do we always question and complain? Dont we know how the club works, can we change everything with a magic wand, is anyone at Arsenal there to just make profits and not to win? Even if we are balancing books, it cant be balanced without winning and i am sure everyone aims for the same. The fans need to understand no player out there steps on to the ground thinking we cant win, they all believe they can, we fans are the ones who always question and that is so disconcerting. When i see our own fans questioning the boss, i am like ‘man that guy gives his all and we still question him?’

Does Wenger not want to win? Does he prepare teams to lose? Does he tell his players to leave? Get a life. He is our biggest asset because he is an Arsenal fan to, he wants the team to win. There was this classic line once said- ‘We dont need you when we win for you were not there when we didn’t”.

Belief is what binds the team and if you dont believe you better look else where, for a true gooner is one who stands by his team in all circumstances, the ones who dont need not bother.

Till next time

CM is only made for wilshere.
    arteta is our new DM.
    Here is our midfield
    –wilshere—arteta–
    Cazorla
    d best midfield of PL.

    we just need to offload-
    bendtner (definetly going)
arshavin (absent frm squad nd not even in training, so must be going)
squillici (not even in reserves, might sell or loan or free next yr)
chamakh (might loan to a PL team or sell, not in our plans)
park (cant say bt as per his agent might leave)

    new signings -
i dont think we need tiote, cabaye or mvila or any midfielder. we are strong in dat position.
we need a winger, might be affeley on loan.
as we hav only walcott,ox nd gervinho (assuming dat podolski plays as CF)
At last wenger knows the best.

Great post hit the nail on the head. I havent seen the whole game yet as I was working while we played I have seen the first half on Arsenal Player this morning and listened to the game on radio and watched highlights on Matchoftheday. And I have to say when I listened to the game on talksport they made it sound like we were awful and even matchoftheday managed to somehow miss a lot of the good parts of Arsenals play and this morning while I was watching I thought to myself the best way to watch an Arsenal game is with no commentry so you cant hear the crap the so called experts tell you and you can make up your own mind and how we are playing.

Its like on talksport everyone played shit even cazorla faded out of the game. I mean what a load of crap I can’t really comment on Cazorla fading out of the game because I haven’t watch 2nd half yet but in the 1st half my honest opinion is we were solid Stoke tired their best to rough us up as they always because thats there style right, and all of the lads just rode the challenges and in fact gave as good as they got and our defence was outstanding Per was brilliant, Verms was great Gibbo was on drugs by the looks of it and even Jenkinson looked like he had a whole seasons worth of games under his belt and then you look at the midfield for all the worry of not having a holding midfielder Daiby was outstanding defensively and Areta well we all know hes great every time he pulls on an Arsenal shirt. Then lets look at the guys up front out of them all Gervinho could have done more but even him he tracked back excellently and caused the stoke left back all sorts of problems once he works on his final ball he will be devasting. Then Cazorla was brilliant im not even going to talk him up he doesn’t need it. Podolski was great he worked so hard tracked back when he needed to and just ran at the stoke defence something we haven’t an Arsenal striker do since the days of King Thierry and you could see when he made those rans I only saw him do it about three times during the 1st half Stoke defenders didn’t know what to do other than hack him down he looked great on and off the ball and should of had a goal if it weren’t for a HAND blocking his effort yes thats a hand as the commentry team put it Stoke will put any part of their body on the line to stop a goal yeah don’t we all just know it as well. Then we look a Giroud who for me doesn’t look fully match fit just yet but again he looked great working so hard at the back to stop the long balls from set peices and from throw ins and up front he held the ball brought others into the game and had a few chances liked I said he looked really good but is defo lacking that sharpness that will come over the next few games and then we will see giroud at his best and I know will he devast the opposition and scare the life out of defences up and down the country. But before I end I just want to mention Daiby how for me needs to be given credit the way he broke play up he was strong in the challenges and great defending set peices stokes tactics where totally nulified by the likes of Daiby Per and Giroud but Daiby the way he covered the back he just reminds me of Vierea and I know I am getting ahead of myself but trust me when he is fully match fit and if he can stay off the treatment table and get a good 7 odd games under his belt we will start to see Daiby come to life and then we will see what he can do but overall very impressed with the way he played and I know his passing was sloppy at times but that will improve when he has played a few more games.

Lets look at the fact guys I know we should have won the first two games we out played both of them and we gave probably at the most four chances away for the opposition to score over the two games which is amazing to think how worried we all were at the start of the season with our defence and to think all that with no recognised holding midfielder its amazing we have played two anti-football teams who won’t just park a bus but will park a boeing 747 and stop everything in their path and to think we still created enough chances to win the both games 3-0 so all isn’t as bad as it seems and if you think that Wenger is saying that he will sign a few more players our squad will be so strong and to think we still have wilshire rosiky kos sagna firmong all to back that list on top on the team that played yesterday and then add in two or three more new players to that list and try telling me we can’t play for the title lets not believe the crap we read and hear from the so called experts and look at the facts starring us in the face trust me if we had played both these games in march and drew 0-0 we wouldn’t be moaning as much as we are now its just that its been back to back and at the start of the season and the smell of RIP is still in the air.

UP THE GUNNERS and we need to all believe in what we have and can achieve and get behind the team.

Powerful write up.. I believe so much in that team, i know we need time. Defensively, we look great………. Our midfielders like Santiago, artate and abou sound cool. We just need a pace winger and one center forward. All our goalkeepers look great and i trust them.

A true fan is like a true patriot… willing to go against his club!

Blind faith and blind support are worthless. Get behind the team, definitely, theres little point booing during a game. But belief is not something that can just be whipped up! (Well maybe if your a religious person and you need 0% of truth to believe any old nonsense)

The club needs to stop selling our best players and replace the ones who get away … Van persie has been replaced for next season, but Giroud and Pod will take a bit of time, I see them really coming into their own with a year under their belts. Cazorla can be seen as finally replacing nasri/cesc but again its too late! They must be replaced immediately, and preferably with players who know the league.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 7 Thumb down 6

It takes maturity to accept lose in games, no perfect circle and we should always expect situation like this. Arsenal is better a team than Real Madrid if two games are enough to judge. I’m a gooner to the bone.

For the good of the team I wish all this petty bickering would just STOP !!
Surely everyone understands that we are not in the same financial position as Man city, Chelsea etc.. Therefor AW has to buy players that are a reasonable price for their quality, and turn them into “Arsenal Players”, and that integration process takes time.
Keeping Van Persie was not an option & he would of left next season for F**K all ! then where would we be, at 29 his time was running out.
AW has bought potentially very good players, and in time they will gel as a unit, so now is the time to get behind them, they won’t play well reading all this negative Bollock’s constantly spewing out of the “fans”? forums.
Why did Fergie buy a 29 year old for £24M, because he was the only decent stiker available ! (and RVP made himself available, nothing the club could do about it).
So where is AW supposed to magic-up these instant superstar saviours ?
As with the olympics, several British athletes punched above their weight and achieved great things, why ? …because of “home” support, don’t under estimate the power of supporters either negative or positive.
Supporting is not about Blind faith, it’s about playing with the cards you’re dealt with ( and we have a pretty good hand).
I have never judged Arsenal on how many bit’s of tin we have in a cabinet, as they are the Icing on the cake, it’s about a team, playing as a team and achieving the best they are capable of.
I get as disapointed as anyone else when we bow out of any tournament, but I don’t question the manager, he afterall is the best manager Arsenal has ever had, and I’ve seen a few over the years. Arsene Wenger has a Massive desire to win, and we will win ..in time, providing the curent crop of players are happy, fans can contribute to their happiness.
We can’t expect to win, only hope, after all, there are only three major trophies and one minor one to be had each season, and many, many clubs competing for them, so what gives us a divine rite to expect any of them let alone all of them ?
So many people feel they can manage and organise Arsenal via their keyboard, and the truth of the matter, is THEY CAN’T, which is why they are ordinary working peaople that are not involved in football in any way, leave that side to the professional peaple within the game and fulfil your role as a fan/supporter. and if you are unsure of that role…Look it up in the dictionary or apply for a job within the professional ranks.
I don’t wish to offend anyone with these comments, I truly want to unite Arsenal fans, and stop the bickering.
    COME ON ARSENAL !!!

You are right about being united. But millions of us cannot always agree.
The least we can do is agree to disagree.
Questioning the loyalty or committment of other fans is what’s petty.
The role of a fan is not just to cough up and shut up.
We ordinary people made this and every other club. Football people are also ordinary people who make mistakes on a daily basis.I refuse to put them on a pedestal. My support of the club is enough.
If a manager or board member used some of your words publically, they would be rightly hammered.
Football without the ordinary working people would be dead.
You cannot demand support and silence at the same time.
I support your righ to use your keyboard…..
      Good on yah!

OK, what is the answer to all our dreams ??????
Spend a shit load of money we don’t have? Buy a hat-full of multi-million pound players ??? (that still wont gaurantee success).

We are a team with a huge financial burdon (fantastic new stadium) going through a transitional period, under excellent manegerial guidance, which given time result in a stronger, more competetive Arsenal, why can you all not see this ? You negative people must take stock of the financial implications Arsenal are operating under, and accept we are NOT a bottomless financial pit like MC or Chelsea.
The constant moaning and groaning is not going to change anything, it’s not constructive, in fact it’s downright destructive.
Why don’t you buy a mansion……..? because it’ would be lovely to live in……. The reason you don’t, is because the bailiffs would re-possess it next year…. Live within your means !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. 1970-71 Double Winners says:

In my opinion Arsene Wenger has done nothing wrong so far this season. Are we a selling club? Well we sell and we buy. I decided to follow Arsenal during the 70-71 double season and there’s been times when we have flirted with relegation. We have always maintained our status in the top league and that has been enough to satisfy me. The First Division in English football has always been highly competitive and a lot of clubs have pretended to be giants, even winning the title along the way. If the recently acquired fans were to read up on the history of the club they would find that Arsenal are considered to be football brigands who don’t deserve to survive(let alone win things). We have done more to change football over the years than any other club. We don’t garner sympathy the way the club involved in the Munich disaster do. We just have to give thanks for our occasional brilliance that sometimes make us champions. Despite what the powers that be in English football may want to declare, Arsenal are not their favourite team. All managers have their flaws, but in the last 25 years guys like George Graham & now Wenger strived to put our club on top. A status Arsenal has not enjoyed in spite of their 70-71 double since the 1930′s. All of the fans who have climbed on since the Wenger era would do well to check whether they really want to be real fans of the Gunners because they can identify with Woolwich Arsenal or they just want bragging rights for these times. One of the very best things to happen to Arsenal Football Club is the acquisition of Arsene Wenger. I trust him.

Frank Mclintock has surely earned the right to an opinion.
A true football man and a true Arsenal man.
That 1971 cup final was the first i remember watching.

The departures from that 2009 champs league line up is disturbing.
I am Arsenal forever but it takes a special kind of denial to see positives in this policy.
