Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen is going to be out of action for longer than expected. Vermaelen had injured his left ankle and was thought to be back in action this month.
However Vermaelen has undergone surgery again and will. Arsene Wenger told TalkSport Radio: “He will be a fraction longer than expected. He will not be straight back after the international break. One or two weeks later and we still have to count one month for him.” Read more...

Arsenal’s luck still hasn’t changed as Thomas Vermaelen is injured once again. The player’s father has said that the Belgian defender will have another operation done on his ankle and that he could be out of action for between five to six weeks.
Speaking to the Belgian website Vermaelen’s father said: “The doctor in Stockholm, where Thomas was operated on last time too, recognised the problem now. He would not take any chances and immediately operated on Thomas. He expects five to six weeks of unavailability”. Read more...
