After the aftermath of the Champions League win, it now seems that Johan Djourou will be the one who’ll take up the right-back spot till a recognized one returns. While I do acknowledge the absolute dearth of experience in this role, I do think that playing the Swiss on the flanks would be a big mistake.
Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs has said that his team mates need to stand up and be counted if they want to turn their season around. Arsenal are experiencing a disappointing start to the season. Although yesterday the squad’s youngsters managed to book a win against Shrewsbury in the Carling Cup.
Gibbs scored the equaliser in the game, his first senior goal, and spoke to the Guardian about the situation at the club. He said: “It has not been the easiest of months, but I can assure everyone that the team is together. You can see from the stats of the games that what we are doing is right, but on some occasions we just are not getting the results. We are looking to turn that around as soon as possible so we can lift the club.”
