After a decent run of results, with 5 wins in the last 6 games, it seems that Arsenal are finally building some momentum. The start to the season wasn’t the best, but people do need to remember that it is only 10 games into the league year, and that Arsenal will have plenty of chances to make up for whatever they did before.
But it would be prudent to get carried away. Injuries are still rampant across the team, and some players are still out of form. Still, if we really get behind the team and stop attacking it left, right and centre, I have full faith in the Arsenal getting back up there.
In the last couple of games, Arsenal have carried out a rather more cautious approach, and that is the best way to go about it for a team under such considerable pressure. Sometimes, it’s just good to slowly grind out the results, taking it one game at a time, and try to build on it next week. Had Arsenal gone out to get 5 or 6 goals every week, thus leaving its defense to chance, no one knows for sure how messed up it could have become. I’m starting to ramble now, so I’ll just shut up.
Arsenal now face their polar side, so to speak. Stoke have always been known more for their physical play than the actual work they put in on the field. They are Arsenal’s fatal spot, as it were, with the balls sure to be flung it hard and long. Mertesacker will be an integral part of today’s lineup, and with Djourou on the right-hand side, Arsenal, for once, could have the physical side to counter Stoke’s negative play.
So now, let’s just hold on. We have started to get back on the right track, but it’s just the start. The support has been absolutely tremendous in recent weeks, and you just gotta feel, if it carries on this way, Arsenal will get somewhere this term.
