John Collard: Why would Arsenal want Cesc when we’ve got Jack?
Hello fellow gooners. by John Collard
Today I would like to talk about one of the finest talents to come out of England in a long time. But first to people that will come on here and say don’t put pressure on the young lad (Well that’s a joke) Jack Wilshere thrives on pressure and he did that night when we beat Barcalona and the likes of Iniesta and Xavi couldn’t cope with the lad from Hitchin. The media and his fellow football professionals has set the bar for him already so my little blog im sure will not add any more on his shoulders. Jack Wilshere is absolute class and Liam Brady, one of Arsenals finest ever midfield players, has come out very open and said we have something very special here.
My blog is also to show some of the Cesc Fabregas fans that still weep for him life moves on. I made a statement yesterday that was mocked by some (Which I expect) I said in my opinion Jack is a all round better player. I myself played football at a very reasonable standard and im from Stevenage right near where jack lived (Hitchin Hertfordshire) He has the world at his feet and when a football player watches some one like him you can just tell something great is due. I believe some will come on here and speak of the injury and will judge him on that (Give him time crys). Jack will return stronger than ever and I have faith in this first class performer. Technical ability and undoubtedly majestic in his movement its that good to watch. So pressure on Jack (Not a chance).
Beckham had pressure on what his hair would look like in the morning and Jack is made of sterner stuff than Beckham im sure. I must admit I water at the mouth thinking of his link up with Santi Cazorla and Arteta. What is your view on Jack and what do you believe the future holds for are midfield dynamo? Does the injury really worry you all and can see him not returning to the season he had before? I strongly believe he will be stronger fitter and better and Cesc will be no longer as much in the minds as often. It was sad yesterday seeing how many cannot let go and move. Cesc was without question a huge gifted player that in his eyes went to a better club and needed to move on and so must we.
Every time I have seen jack play I see Paul Gascoigne of old. He runs like Paul, he passes the ball like Paul, and his clown attitude seems so much like the great man. Paul Gascoigne had the touch of a angel with the ball at his feet as does Jack. I think some of us should relish the fact we have the best midfield player in the premiership in raw talent (Without question). It does shock me when some fans come on here and say this is to much pressure lol. The lad has had the greatest comments from some of the best players In the world. This blog no shape or form does Jack any harm at all. I say lets big Jack up as much as possible he will thrive. Does any of you guys really believe Cesc Fabregas is a much better player than Jack? If so then I would ask why. (Take the injury out of the question) No chance is Cesc a better all round player (Im sorry). And the ones that believe Cesc is better should explain why. Its not an argument im asking your opinion I make that clear. Everyone has a right on a view and I would like to hear yours very much. Blogs and your posts are important apart from the nasty comments from childish people that just want to slate the blogger.
So why is it some can no longer move on from Cesc but with did with out Dennis Bergkamp who in my opinion was the greatest player to ever where the shirt (Oh and Tony Adams). Cesc was without question a huge player for us but can we not see that Jack will be just as strong. Any true football fan with some knowledge can watch Jack play and see a boy this young can produce this line of work is something special (Injury or not).
I’m sticking with the people that know (Liam Brady; Messi; David Seamen) and so on. You know when you have something special and special ones don’t get pressure. I’m making a bold statement to you all Jack Wilshire is a better player than Cesc Fabregas. And god willing if the ankle and knee is up to scratch then sit back and enjoy something very very special at this wonderful club. WELCOME BACK JACK.
Gooners thanx for reading.
John Collard

Before his injury I saw Jack wilshere show more leadership quality and bottle than more senior players especially away from home.
losing seems to hurt him which is a geat quality in any player.
More like the great Romario than Gazza for me.
My only fear for Jack is not injury but Arsenal cashing in as soon as the first offer comes along.
It’s our policy.

Have u been smoking something
Mate?i can see your thoughts on jack been like gazza i also think that. But jack has never pulled arsenal out of the mire like Cesc done on a regular basis plus before Cesc left he was by far the best midfielder in the league his passing in the last 3rd was unreal the only player in my opinion who had a more needled pass is bergkamp. But I do hope he ends up better than Cesc cos what a player we would have.

Is he, really? i think many gooners in awe at the sheer talent that is santi cazorla would debate that one. Truth is jack may never reach the level of player santi is so to say he is the the most amazing player we have now is open to ridicule cos imo and i believe i share this opinion afc and arsene have played a blinder and somehow managed to sign a MINIMUM 40m player, in todays market, within afc’s well known shall we say modest transfer spending limitations. I am still flabbergasted at how he already looks like he owns the epl, forget an adaptation period that sh*t is 4 suckers he seems to be shouting putting shame to the likes of gervinho still flapping about looking clueless in general. Believe me santi is a player all other epl teams are already fearing, just look at the lpool game where they focused on him intensely and freed bags of space for a semi fit diaby to look like a world beater (which i’m sure got wily arsene thinking)and he was STILL unstoppable a true sign he is a mega player who thrives on the challenge. Show love to jack but shame on u for in doing so dismissing our true most amazing player. I just hope of all hopes pray he stays injury free cos if he does i have no doubt he is gonna be our annual standout premier league super player.

By the time Arteta leaves Couquiln will take over from him, he has learned from different midfielders at Arsenal and am sure he is capable of taking over.

In response to the title: perhaps for when he misses a season and a half through injury – Sure would have been handy to have Cesc last season.

Jack is diffrent from cesc in many ways(a)jack has arsenal DNA but cesc dnt(b)cesc needs wide space to dribble or move but jack dnt(c)jack has dat aura of leadership qualities but cesc needs the arm band to prove it(d)jack is a fighter but cesc is one of those who lost in the crowd when the chips are down(e)jack can play various roles:DMF,ATM,SS and even in the wing, well i cant imagine cesc playing as DMF and(f)jack is makelele, gerrard, pirlo and xavi all rolled into one but cesc is just fabregas. But all the same he is welcome home anytime.

Firstly I am a Jamaican but lived for a short time in Letchworth and worked in Stevenage in the 1990s on a work permit. I got a little sentimental when you write about Hitchin which is adjacent to Letchworth and Stevenage. As a matter of facts some of my close friends were from Hitchin. More reasons to support Jack. Who knows? Maybe I knew Jack’s parents. One love!!!

I think Cesc’s body had taken more than enough punishment in the EPL. If he is sensible he will know not to return. Plus Cazorla does look very special … and Wilshere may yet come back as good as ever (though but that’s not guaranteed.)

lies lies lies i’m sorry but i’m just not buying it, dont get me wrong jack is a great talent but he is a LOOOOONNNGG way from cesc at his peak playing for afc. At his peak in a arsenal shirt cesc bossed WHOLE games not just the middle at some of the biggest away venues in club football who can forget his performances at the san siro, at old trafford, at anfield and at roughly the same age jack is now. Like i said jack is a talent but to me his another victim of the ridiculous over the top hype thrust upon talented english players and i for one feel for him cos the media and all involved with national team are so desperate for a technically gifted english midfielder who is a world beater(joe cole anyone) that it can all get a lil overblown, u say his going to thrive on the pressure well imo hype,expectation/pressure and serious injury problems have NEVER been a good mix especially for someone with young jacks questionable temperament. Sorry to come off like a well jel spuds fan but i’m just tryin to share an honest differing opinion.
Hot debate. What do you think?

Jack Wilshere will be a great player and I have more respect to him than Cesc. But you should admit that Cesc is much better player in his role(playmaker). He was the best play maker in the premier league when he was playing here. Cesc got 103 assist and 57 goals from 212 matches playing at Arsenal. He also got 20 assists and 15 goals in 28 matches for Barca.

Jack is still in development. Only 1 year in first team. Don’t put him on a petal just yet. It’s unfair to compare Jack against Cesc who is already a accomplished player.
But what’s wrong with Cesc, then? Always in public Cesc has vocally expressed his high respect for the Arsenal club and the manager. He took a pay cut to move to Barca (perhaps so that no one could accuse him being greedy!).
How can anyone fault Cesc’s commitment when he was still wearing the Arsenal shirt? He scored a goal against Barca with a broken leg. He came in with a hamstring as a sub and scored 2 goals against Villa. He played for Arsenal the day after his Grandad died instead of taking a personal leave. What more John or anyone, what more can you guys ask from this kid (Yes the kid was 21-year old when he was handed the captain armband)?
If you were offended by Cesc leaving Arsenal, then think again. What about Henry, the all time favourite Arsenal legend? I read the rumour that Cesc refused to be on the Arsenal tour. Bollock. Cesc’s transfer negotiation was on its final leg. How could he be allowed by Arsenal to be on tour? The rumour I read could’ve come from the Arsenal hierachy. Now, the gang at Arsenal (Hill-wood and his cohorts) are a bunch of despicable, greedy cowards who do not deserve one iota of our respect.
In short, Cesc is not not angel but, be fair, he’s not a character as you’ve made him to be.

If you want a pure pass master – Cesc is far superior to Wilshere, not to mention Wilshere has only played one full season for Arsenal and Cesc has played nine years in the top flight and Champions League, has two Euro cups and a World cup at the grand old age of 25. Wilshere has fighting qualities in the challenge that perhaps Cesc doesn’t posses in abundance but that’s it.
Think objectively. So many Arsenal fans let their judgement be clouded by sentimentalism and a pathetic us and them mentality. Cesc has an eye for a pass like few others. You want to compare the two? I just dream that they’ll one day play together again
