Hello Gooners I wish you well.
Today I want to talk about a complete football performance from a man who I, and I’m sure a few others, have believed in but also been frustrated with. I don’t know what Wenger gave the lads for breakfast but it was a whole new team out there. From Arteta to Santi Cazorla making the midfield their own and the defensive display was also much improved where Gibbs now holds his position and Vermaelen and Mertersacker bossed all. But going back to a man who has seen more of the injury table than Jimmy Bullard (Abou Diaby). This lad has had many critics in his days at Arsenal but on his day every one of us has seen what he is capable of doing. This blog is not about getting over excited about one good game but it’s about hats of to a young lad that can be a tremendous talent.
Diaby looked like a man possessed on that field, it was a proper man up situation. I must admit I agree with Jamie Redknapp’s comments that it was almost like watching a recording of Paddy Viera. Not one negative Gooner can come on here and say they have not seen such a commanding stance from a playing in the centre for some time (It really was that good) Match of the day’s Alan Hansen and Dion Dublin praised the whole team and Santi Cazorla and Arteta were pushing Diaby close for man of the match (But he was that good). I really hope he can push on and show us all the real talent that does hide in the shadows. Even the French manager says Diaby, when fit, is the first name on the team sheet (That tells a story). The whole attitude of the team was sublime and the manager got the team tactics spot on.
I would love to here from you guys about yesterdays game and what was your view on the shape of the team and also the view on Abou Diaby when playing like this. The creativity was better, at times it was the Arsenal of old. Lukas Podolski will be ideal for Arsenal also he seems to fit right in with the players and the style and he looks like a player that wants to battle for every ball. When we see a team play like this at Anfield, which is one of the most daunting places to go, and we come away with a result like this it brings hope.
I must admit the addition of Oxlade-Chamberlain in place of Gervinho was also a good call by Wenger, it added more strength to the side in pushing forward as I’m sure most of you will agree. It would take the most annoying Gooner to find any kind of fault with yesterday’s solid show. Even the young Carl Jenkinson, although he made some misplaced passes, grew stronger as the game went on (It really was a positive day.) But going back to Abou and his amazing display yesterday, are any of you guys convinced he can stay strong this season and play like this more often? (Your views are very welcome).
But I’ve played football myself at a good standard and I saw a player that has stuck two fingers up at the hater and said this is what I can do so fxxking deal with it lol. To sum up, Diaby yesterday (Immense) If Viera was still at Arsenal playing like that we would talk about it for years. Yesterday even though it was just one game, Alex Song has not been missed (Yet). Also Arteta has been outstanding linking up with Cazorla over the three games we have played. Im sure I am getting excited too quick because Diaby will be out for a month soon lol but fingers crossed.
Gooners, what was your take on the game and the players yesterday? Most of all I want your reaction on Abou Diaby because I truly believe this was one of the great solo perfomances from an Arsenal player in some time it really was that good. Ok Liverpool are not firing on all cylinders but still to play like that in the middle of the park I say hats off. Abou diaby had Anfield in his pocket (I guess now we will sell him in January) Gooners thanks for reading.
