Is Pep Guardiola the answer to Arsenal’s problems?

Pros and Cons of Having Pep Guardiola as Arsenal Manager by Sooraj

In recent times, Arsenal fans have had very little to cheer about. However, they might be jumping for joy if a particular rumour becomes true. Rumours are rife that Pep Guardiola might replace Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager, while Wenger will move upstairs. Despite the rumor having no credibility or confirmation, it would be interesting to see what happens if this happens. The potential pros and cons of such a move are listed below.

Those who have any doubts regarding Guardiola’s managerial skills would merely have to look at Barcelona’s record since he took over. While one can argue that the club is blessed with a plethora of world class players, it still takes an excellent manager to get such results. Guardiola will bring in a new mentality and big money signings to Emirates; something which Wenger would never do. Arsenal’s record in recent times has been dismal, to say the least. If anyone can turn their fortunes around, it will be Guardiola.

However, Guardiola might want to rebuild the current Arsenal team. A lot of players will have to go to make way for new ones. This will disrupt the partnerships and friendships. It will take time for the new players to adjust with each other. Guardiola is used to having a large sum at his disposal. However, he will not be able to spend lavishly if he were to come to Arsenal. Immense pressure is another important factor. When a manager such as Guardiola comes to Arsenal, club owners and fans will expect him to bring immediate results.

But surely his arrival would be enough to lift the gloom and doom at the Emirates.

Guardiola will come to arsenal and fail if is given the same given to wenger by the board. The board need realise that they to employ someone that will be distributing the wage among players, negotiate transfer deal and scout for players as well. Since arsene took over this role it as affected his coaching ability. ARSENE NEEDS TO BE FREE OF BURDENS

Frank Rijkard would be more likely. His style of play was more attractive in my opinion and seemed closer to the style Wenger tries to portray.

Well I’m sticking with Fergie pep himself Gary Neville Henry keown seaman Martin o Neil just to name a few. All saying be careful wat u wish for. Yeah arsenal does carry on without Wenger but don’t forget he made us bigger than ne other. Also u could hire bloody sea biscuit the wonder bloody horse or the greatest manager off all time. If the board don’t give u r well and truly up the creek. So I’m sticking with be careful wat u wish for and when Wenger does walk all the haters will soon learn when we get a new manager. Wenger is doing his best with wat he is given. He don’t make the wage structure and to top it off why has nasri stated himself in clear black and white don’t blame Wenger blame the money guys.

Completely agree with you John. I think any new manager will bring in some champagne signings, which will keep everyone happy for about 3 months, before the realisation that making a team gel is not an easy task, we’ll become the next Liverpool, big signings little results. I much prefer where we are right now than Liverpool.

Yes we could do with some new players, and ridding ourselves of a few, but i still see no better man to lead our club than Wenger!

wenger is hopeless, he has lost his way…..just look at what he does or doesnt do and how ever much fans feel sentimentality and sickly admiration for the “has-been”, they should wake up and take stock of facts. Just to refresh the memory: 2-1 birmingham carling cup fiasco, 4-4 newcastle (4-0 up), 8(eight)-2 man utd, beaten by swansea, sunderland, blackburn. Its a disgrace! Wenger bought squillacci, chamakh and park. NOT THE BOARD. wenger has NO TACTICS, just 4-5-1 with the same predictable square passing 30-50 yards from goal. He has no idea of substitutions, sometimes its in such a disarray players coming off give the armband to players coming on and that player shrugs his shoulders and wonders whom to give it to. Pat rice in the dugout!!!…..says it all for me about wengers desire for “yes-men” around him.
Fans say wenger is the right man to get us out of this mess!!!incredulous!..he is the man that’s put us in the mess!….or was it bad pitches?.the referees?lack of focus?, too many games?….or the board?…yes the board forced wenger to buy 6 shite players when he could have bought 3 quality players!
Pep guardiola would be the answer to my prayers for our club. Even with a limited spending power, there is already enough potentially great players at the club to start building a great team. A quality, flexible manager would take the core players like TV5, RVP, JW, chezzar, SAGNA ,OXO.(maybe kos ramsey and gibbs)and potentially very good players like coquelin, frimpong and form a team capable of at least a challenge. In time someone like guardiola can restore us back to where this great and famous club belongs, right at the top!

  10. prince says:

please people, guardiola had 40milion to spend on transfers. He made some smart busines by seling kids such as romeu n got cesc and sanchez, towk about living within ur means. We got about 66milion from cesc, clichy and nasri and spent abt 30mil on our signings with AOC taking abt half of that fee. I think its time we woke up and smelt tha coffee, wenger is nt exactly tha entire problem but he is a cog in the big machine that isnt muvin as it should.
I sugest 2 solutions. Hp for an Usmanov takeover and a shakeup in the board or wenger moves to the board and takes up an advisory role to the manager who may be rijkaad, pep or klopp from dortmund.

Yes, Wenger is a cog in this big machine, as a cog, he can only work within the parameters of the rest of the machine. Nice Analagy :-)

This will be perfect that Pep Guardiola felt there is too much presure in Barca but in Arsenal there is no presure if he(Pep) wins a least one trophy and cham.league qualifying place.

  17. Yes Guardiola can solve Arsenal’s problems SO LONG AS Arsenal’s current board stops being mean, economical and selfish with money during/when transfer windows are opened.
Apart from Pep Guardiola, any of the following coaches can make/ coach Arsenal to win trophies provided/so long as Arsenal’s current board STOPS being selfish, mean and economical with money during transfer windows: Frank Rijaard,Guus Hiddink,Marco Van Basten,Luis van Gaal,Dennis Bergkamp,Fabio Capello,Frank De Boer, Dunga,Bert van Marwijk,Harry Redknapp,David Moyes,Marcello Lippi etc but me am for Frank Rijkaard to coach Arsenal.

Frank Rijkard put in place the team and style that Guardiola inherited. Any manager could have won the same with the team which Frank Rijkard put in place.
