Arsenal has successfully bought Thomas Eisfeld this window. We have 7 first team players coming back from loan and 1 player going back to his club. In all, we will have 35 player(including Eisfeld) in the summer fighting for a place in the first team. If we want to buy more players we will have to sell some too, to free up some space and reduce the wages. So the big question is, who will be leaving??
Manuel Almunia – With Szczesny appointed as the first choice keeper this season, Almunia has gone down to third choice keeper and with the return of Mannone, forth choice keeper. Almunia has not played even one game for Arsenal this season. It is clear that he wont be playing for Arsenal again.
Sebastien Squillaci – With the arrival of the German giant Per Mertesacker, Squillaci had gone down to forth choice center back. And with the reserve team captain Ignasi Miquel looking promising, he has gone down to fifth choice center back. Although Squillaci has played some League Cup games, Wenger used youngsters instead of Squillaci in our defensive crisis suggesting that he wont be playing for Arsenal again.
Andrey Arshavin – The Russian captain has been out of form this season and hasn’t started much games. He has been low on confidence. The booing at the game against Manchester United just adds to the occasion. He had clearly stated that he will be leaving if he is not give many games. He is currently out on loan, and his future will be decided by his performances at Zenit.
Carlos Vela – Vela is out on loan to Real Sociedad and they have expressed their intention of a permanent deal. So Vela has high chances ofleaving in the summer.
Nicklas Bendtner – The self proclaimed “Best Striker in the World” has expressed his desire of leaving Arsenal and joining a team playing in the Champions Leagues this summer. It is more than clear that he will be leaving Arsenal in the summer.
Denilson – He is currently out on loan to Sao Paulo and is happy in Brazil. So there is 99.99 percent chance of him leaving in the summer.
Abou Diaby – Although a great talent, Diaby’s career at Arsenal is filled with injuries. Wenger has kept faith in him so far, but no one knows for how long this will go on. If Diaby doesn’t gather his laces by summer, he MIGHT be leaving.
Ju-Young Park – Park was bought by Wenger in the last summer, but he has only played a few League Cup games and only made one appearance in the Premier League. His agent has said that if he is not given playing time he will be looking for chances at other clubs.
So there are a possible 8 players leaving in the summer, freeing up some space to bring in the likes of Podolski, Vertonghen, Gotze, M’Villa etc…
So who do you see leaving and joining us in the summer?
